Fuel the fire; that burns within, Never give up; or give in.

Hold back no more; break the mold, it only harms; the ambition you hold.
Be strong and delve; into your dreams, Things only come; to who be bold.
Cast off the shadows; that drag you deep, Chains of creation; that you did reap,
Our passion and hopes; will fuel you far, But determination; success will keep.
Pass through the doubters; they matter not, Some people scheme; whilst others plot,
But dreams can break; all negative vibes, & like a star; you’ll burn so hot.
& inspiration; that you will glow, A world below; you will now show,
That a dream can reach; unknown heights, & once you start; you will not slow,
So understand; all you can be, And let yourself; today be free.
You can achieve; all that you desire, You only need; to light your inner fire.

A parents challenge

I would walk through hell to find you.
I would march against the world to protect you.
I would sacrifice myself, to give you one more day of sunshine.
And, I would throw caution to the wind, if it meant bringing beauty within your world.
If an obstacle appeared on your horizon, I would break it down or carry you over. Even for only one second of joy and happiness.
I would never let another take away your sunshine.
And I would bring the rain when you needed refreshing.
But, my children, the hardest thing to do is to help you learn the real lessons in life.
Where I need to stand back so you experience loss, pain and failure.
For who am I to take away the most valuable lessons in life.
Lessons you will need to know when you walk through the shadows of life, after I am gone.
Know this though my child;
I have faced death in my life.
I have faced fear that I hope to god, you never face.
Know that nothing, nothing is as hard to do as a parent and not be able to help you.
It is something that is harder to do than anything in life.
Sometimes the greatest gift I can give, is to do nothing.
But nothing breaks my heart.
because you are everything to me.

Write chapters to help others

Blaze a trail of hope and glory,
Live out your dreams; create your story,
Fuel your passionate desires,
Light that inner most; burning fire,
For the path ahead is yours to pave,
Where ambitions wait that you do crave,
Help others whilst you lay each stone,
Cement the friendships; don’t go alone,
For each and every friendship brings,
Heartfelt help; that gives you wings,
To soar amongst the angels keep,
Sat on your shoulder when you weep,
A life of triumph for you awaits,
Stop holding back fear makes you late,
For you were born to live a life,
With both happiness; tinged with strife,
Each is balanced to make you strong,
Each designed as the road is long,
And every step forward you make,
Worth every effort that it takes,
As every chapter that you write,
Will help others; like a beacons light.

There will be clouds ahead, but I will choose what kind.

The trials and tribulations we face have answers we sometimes do not wish to see.
Words cut deeper than any object and truths can deliver a deathly blow to hope and dreams.
But know clouds of anger and self defeat will not clear your spirits sky.
For dark clouds feed off anger, envy and defeat.
They fill and swell, hanging heavy over your shoulders, like the world weighing you down.
Do not feed these clouds.
Never allow the clouds to grow.
Each drop of rain from these clouds cuts deeper than a daggers blade.
As each rain drop washes away your colourful spirit.
And leave behind a grey empty void.
No one else can feed your clouds, as all those depressions come from within you.
We may argue that external influences cause our pain.
But know that no one can take away the spirit you are, but you.
You can remove external influences,
You can pass through the crowd of doubters and neigh sayers.
Find a space in this world, where the only clouds you create, are ones where dreams flourish.
And you feel the rays of sunshine illuminating your soul.
Say goodbye to darkness, and walk with me in the light, today.
Have a creative day.

The Twitter Anthem

There are some people who visit Twitter,

Who are not nice, in fact they’re a little bitter,

So in order to avoid or block these tweeps,

I wrote this little poem for you to keep.

99% of people are considerate and kind,

Mostly the majority obeying the rules I find,

But like anything we seem to have in life,

1% just seem to cause you strife!

You know the ones I am talking about,

Twitter trolls who brood and pout,

Just looking for someone they can prey,

Annoying abuse they usually say,

Why they do it? Who really knows,

Maybe the lonely just need a show,

Perhaps its fun for their little minds,

Ruin the fun by wearing their blinds.

Then there are a stranger bunch,

Who all they do is the RT crunch,

This is a twitterer who does nothing else,

Only re-tweeting another soles verse.

Don’t get me wrong RT’ing is great,

But not when you do it from 8 – 8,

RT is you showing you liked something,

But also to the party your own words bring.

Then there is the pier de resistance,

The one that causes the most annoyance,

Not interested in you by any means,

For in their eyes all they see is green!

Not jealousy at all but money my friend,

And these people don’t follow any trend,

For after hello usually comes a Direct Message,

One that seems to be Twitters right of passage,

“You I can make a million dollars today!”

Usually you know their own bills they can’t pay,

So next time one of these in your inbox drops,

Just remember Twitter allows you to block!

But as I said at the beginning of this,

It’s only 1% that you really should miss,

For Twitter has something for one and all,

A home with family and friends you will call.

Just join the conversation with a smile,

Listen to others and stay a while,

Very soon you will feel a warm embrace,

By people who call Twitter their place.

This poem was part of a presentation that I gave at the global tour of “Cool Twitter Conferences” that happened in Dubai. Full of amazing people with interesting insights into the world of Twitter and social media. As one of many speakers I was fortunate to share some of the things that I do as the Poet of Twitter. To all the people that attended in Dubai, It was an honor to meet each and everyone of you. Thank you!
