We live in a world where perfection is championed and anything less is frowned upon. Whether this is a business idea, our bodies, or just the way we post on social media, we are constantly being judged. Most often than not though the harshest judge of all is ourselves, so why do we do this to ourselves?
We have allowed ourselves to be victims in a world that is paralyzed with getting things wrong, making a mistake or waiting to do anything because we are unable to make it prefect. When did this happen in our world? We reached this point in our history from pushing the boundaries, exploring unchartered seas and experimenting over and over again until we got it right.
Throw off that fear of getting it wrong or not being perfect and a whole new world opens up to you. Understand that the greatest people or those who we see as successful now where not always that way. Steve Jobs, Richard Branson and any other icon of our world have always said they didn’t always get it right.
But that is why they did eventually become successful, because they broke away from the pack that were all worrying about making a mistake, being perfect or just petrified that someone would say you got it wrong. Most of the world is living in that state of fear, worried what others, so called friends, might say, think or do if we tried and failed. And let’s be honest most of the world are still unhappy. So you have to ask yourself one question, ‘Do you want a life like most of the world who are unhappy or do you want a life where you are not paralysed by fear?’
Life can be difficult at the best of times. But what often makes it worse are the excuses we give ourselves for not doing the things we want to, not achieving the goals we dream of and not making the most of every opportunity we have in this world. If you think that it matters where you are from, what education you have or where you are now then you may as well lie down where you are right now and just give up. In fact you may well be digging your own grave with every excuse another inch deeper into the ground, making the chance of moving forward even more difficult in the future, if you have one. I know I have dug many a hole myself.
Many of the greatest people in the world were not born wit ha silver spoon in their mouths or had things made easy for them. Take Steven Hawkings, Steve Jobs, Helen Keller, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and the list goes on. You probably don’t have many of the ailments or issues in front of you at the moment, but still you think achieving any goal is out of your reach. Why? Because the media says you have to go to a certain school? Because so called popular opinion believes you have to be a certain type of person, born on a certain day with stars aligned in the right way? Okay maybe a wild exaggeration, but don’t you see how small the excuses you are placing in front of you seems in comparison? Don’t you see that people all over the world have overcome difficulties, disabilities and hardships most people could never understand to achieve great things?
Not every one has to change the technology world in the way school drop out Steve Jobs did, or created music history like Ray Charles long after going blind as a child. You see every single excuse you make is another inch deeper in your grave or another brick in the wall in front of you. With every challenge and difficulty you will face in the world today you must believe you can achieve dreams or goals that will improve your life or at the very least make you happy.
Everyone on this planet deserves to be happy and has the skills within them to achieve something in their life. Because it doesn’t matter where you are from, who you are or what you have done so far in your life so far. It only matters where you are going and that journey, that amazing next step in your life is whatever you decide you want it to be, so decide today where you are going and live the life you deserve.
Sometimes when you fail it can take away every ounce of your confidence. Literally drain you of all the positive energy that drives you forward in life. But if we look at people in the world who have achieved any amount of success we often rarely realize the success they obtained came out of many, many failures. I personally have failed many times at so many things in my career and even if life. But out of every single failure I learnt more about myself than any other experience could have taught me.
I have tried many business ventures in the past, some were bigger failures than others but each time I failed I never once looked at it as the end of the dream. I just picked myself up, dusted myself off and tried to look at all the reasons this happened. One could easily shy away from trying anything in the future but you can never give up on the dream you have, or else you are pretty much giving up on the person you are.
Thomas Edison failed over a thousand times before creating the right chemical mix for the filament of the lightbulb. He claimed he never failed but rather found 2000 ways how NOT to make a lightbulb. Steve jobs, Richard Branson and even the powerhouse business man that is Donald Trump have all stared failure in the face before starting again with renewed vigor. Believe that you can achieve your dreams through every pitfall and barrier you face, because the truth is although you may fail many, many times; you will only need to be successful once in order to reach your dreams. And
A change is as good as a rest, they say. Getting stuck in a rut can really destroy your moral and spirit as it takes away any sort of natural decision making, and therefore creative thinking. I do not believe that only artists, designers and people with creative occupations are the only creative ones. We are all creative by nature as it is part of what has helped us evolve over the years. It is this creative spirit that has forged new inventions, created new industries, created new materials and many more advances that we see in our daily lives, but there is more.
If we listen to the suggested opinions of people we hear that this person fits this box, that person fits that box and so on. But then you read the story about the person who created something spectacular and no one saw it coming. The only difference is choice of what you do with your time. Ability accounts for a certain part of what people achieve, but many of the people who do create, succeed and achieve in life are rarely the most natural gifted or talented people.
It comes down to the drive and desire to achieve something better. The spark that you feel deep within in you yearning for more. Do not ignore it, do not allow others to dampen it, instead feed it with every dream and wish that inspires you to never give in, never stop and never cease until you realize you have surpassed every dream and desire you ever dreamed. So what happens then? Well then, you dream more!
